Building bridges in our community. Delivering Results for Tacoma.
As a 30-year resident of Tacoma, Jake is proud to serve his community as Deputy Mayor. He looks forward to putting his experience to work in Olympia to create jobs, protect our environment, invest in kids and education, and work for transportation solutions. Jake is known for bringing new creative ideas to the table to solve old problems.
Creating Jobs. In these tough economic times, Jake understands how important it is to get our economy back on track and people back to work. Small businesses matter, and that is why Jake secured funding for Tacoma’s “Go Local” program, supporting small local businesses throughout Tacoma. Jake will continue to fight to keep jobs and large employers like DaVita here in our community.
Protecting Our Environment. Jake is a true environmental leader, fighting to protect clean air, clean water and open space. Jake also manages a nationally recognized energy program that helps small businesses and homeowners conserve energy and save money.
Investing in Kids. Jake is a champion for our kids and families. On the Tacoma City Council, Jake has led the way by funding our parks and open spaces, providing more books for our libraries, and supporting programs that reduce youth violence. Jake knows early childhood education is the key to a bright future for our youth. Jake will continue to advocate for children in the State Legislature.
Providing Transportation Solutions. As a Sound Transit Board Member, Pierce Transit Board Member, and bus and bike commuter, Jake is actively working to reduce traffic congestion on our roads and promote better transportation solutions for our residents. On the Tacoma City Council, Jake secured funding to fix the Hylebos and Murray Morgan Bridges along with local roads. His efforts also produced more bike lanes, sidewalks, and trails. He will continue to work hard to reduce congestion so that residents spend less time commuting and more time at home with their families.
