Building bridges in our community. Delivering Results for Tacoma.
Jake proudly represents the city of Tacoma and the town of Ruston in the Washington State Legislature. Jake has worked hard to secure funding for the construction projects at the Tacoma Art Museum, the Broadway Center, Associated Ministries, and the Metropolitan Park District's Point Defiance Park.
Creating Jobs. In these tough economic times, Jake understands how important it is to get our economy back on track and people back to work. Small businesses matter, and that is why Jake secured funding for Tacoma’s “Go Local” program when he was a Tacoma City Council member, supporting small local businesses throughout Tacoma. Jake will continue to fight to keep jobs and large employers like DaVita here in our community.
Protecting Our Environment. Jake is a true environmental leader, fighting to protect clean air, clean water and open space. Jake also manages a nationally recognized energy program that helps small businesses and homeowners conserve energy and save money.
Investing in Kids. Jake serves on the House Education Committee because he knows that investments in the next generation is good for the community. Jake is a champion for our kids and families. He believes it is vital that the legislature meet the requirements of the McCleary decision and provide the needed funding.
Providing Transportation Solutions. As Vice-chair of the House Transportation Committee, Jake was instrumental in passage, in the House of Representatives, of a revenue package that would provide the funding necessary to complete Highway 167 to serve the Port of Tacoma and relieve congestion of I-5 near Joint Base Lewis McChord. Unfortunately, Senate Republicans killed the package. Jake will push again for a solution during the 2015 legislative session.
